Thank you, Tom. I'm struggling too with the destruction of our shared values on a daily basis. I cycle between anger, hopelessness, shock, sadness, and hope when I see people who are standing up and being counted whether it be social media posts, attending rallies or taking actions in other ways.

I love all that you have shared, Tom. This is a very troubling time and adding the chaos to my own physical challenges creates daily stress. I try to do all that you do but taking action is very hard. My sense of defeat is strong and I do feel powerless to help. Yet, I try to remember that our human struggles come and go, so I have hope. Sometimes, reading Heather Cox Richardson helps provide perspective. Sometimes, the best I can do is send words of thanks and encouragement to those who are trying to make a difference and to support those I love.

Betty, Have you seen Jessica Craven’s Substack? It’s called Chop Wood Carry Water. Every Sunday she lists dozens of good things that happened the previous week. It always lifts my spirits. ❤️

Our lists are nearly identical, Tom! It was so helpful for me to read your resilience strategy. I've been throwing everything I know at my own, and am barely keeping my head above water. I seem to be always only one or two steps ahead of depression, at most, and it seems my saving grace right now is my work. Being a loving witness to my clients' lives helps me keep my eagle's eye perspective. I know this is the long-game. I know this is a cycle that will come to an end. I know "the arc of the Moral Universe is long, but it bends toward justice" as Martin Luther King, Jr. so eloquently told us. But damn, it all hurts so much. Thank you so much for being a beacon in this storm. I can feel your heart, and it's healing to me, and to all who read your words.

Love You,

Kristy

First, Kristy, Thank You and Coaching to Come Alive for inspiring this post. You. Rock. I couldn’t agree more: Whether providing coaching or psychotherapy, helping others helps me see my own life and the larger world more clearly. Such a gift. Thank you also for quoting MLK. I remind myself of that throughout the day. I visualize and strive for the Beloved Community. ❤️❤️❤️
